Published August 1, 2025 Reading Time 1 Min Author Sally OgwoOkey-Umahi

On 2nd of July 2025, I was inducted into the Institue of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN) as an ACIS after rigorous classroom training and exams. Being an ACIS means that I am now a Chartered Company Secretary and Administrator licensed to provide corporate governance assurance and advisory services.

What Are The Roles?.

The role of a Chartered Company Secretary and Administrator is beyond coordinating Board activities, taking minutes of meetings, keeping custody of company registers and seals, and attending to inquiries from the equity investors. The new roles include being:

(a) The Chief Compliance Office.

(b) Board adviser.

(c) Licensed Corporate Governance Consultant and Assurance Provider.

(d) ERM Manager – Financial Reporting, Strategic, Operational, etc.

(e) Shares Registrant.

(f) Project Manager

(g) Financial Advisor – investment planning, fund sourcing, dividend sharing,

.. and many more business success and growth enabling roles.
